Job Description

CARE is recruiting a Senior Director, Health Impact to lead and elevate our global health portfolio across primary health care, last‑mile delivery, global health security, and health innovation. This role will provide strategic clarity, creativity, and direction during a period of renewed positioning for CARE’s global health work.

Drawing on leading-edge practices from Health Tech Innovators, the Senior Director will drive a bold vision for equitable health systems that center women, girls, and marginalized communities.

This leader will bring a strong generalist health background with the ability to integrate health systems, private sector and market‑based approaches, community-led models, and digital innovation. They will champion partnerships across donors, governments, companies, innovators, and impact-driven organizations; strengthen evidence-based programming; and position CARE as a forward‑leaning, impactful global health actor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Shape CARE’s Global Health Strategy

  • Lead a forward‑looking, evidence‑driven Health Impact Strategy, including stewardship of the Right to Health Impact Area Strategy.
  • Translate global trends—including digital health, private sector engagement, community health professionalization, and technology-enabled delivery—into practical guidance and direction for Country Offices.
  • Ensure alignment with the CARE USA Strategy and Signature Programs.
  • Represent CARE in global forums and innovation partnerships.

Strengthen Program Quality and Technical Excellence

  • Guide programming that improves access, quality, and continuity of care.
  • Promote integrated, systems-oriented approaches.
  • Ensure coherence across humanitarian–development–peace nexus.
  • Leverage evidence for adaptive management
  • Strengthen technical leadership across core areas.

Build Strategic Partnerships and Influence and Lead the Global Team

  • Develop partnerships across private sector, innovators, and philanthropies.
  • Position CARE within emerging health markets.
  • Embed innovative and blended finance models.
  • Cultivate relationships with pioneers and digital innovators.
  • Coach and mentor senior advisors.
  • Foster collaboration across PSI and technical networks.
  • Support Country Offices with tools and guidance.

Resource Mobilization and Donor Engagement

  • Lead resource mobilization.
  • Develop investment cases.
  • Support Country Offices.
