Job Summary

  • The Senior Director of Accounting oversees the day-to-day activities of the Hospital Division (HD) Accounting team, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements. This role serves as a key resource to both Corporate and Field personnel for all accounting-related matters and supports the Division Controller and CFO. The Senior Director leads the monthly close process, manages internal controls, supports audit readiness, and ensures adherence to finance policies and procedures across the division.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements for hospitals within the division.
  • Maintain and oversee the General Ledger system, including resolving errors, setting up new accounts, and managing the reporting hierarchy.
  • Direct centralized accounting for Subacute and Acute Rehab Units.
  • Support and lead Revenue Cycle Accounting close processes.
  • Manage the Hospital Division Short Term Incentive Plan, including calculations and result communication.
  • Supervise and mentor staff and senior accountants review journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheets, resolving discrepancies in cash and ledger balances.
  • Analyze financial accounts and prepare schedules for senior management.
  • Manage accounting transitions for acquisitions, transfers, and facility dispositions, including closing out NCD Division entities.
  • Ensure compliance with partnership reporting and funding distribution requirements.
  • Coordinate and reconcile monthly inventory reports with Supply Chain.
  • Act as an accounting resource to field staff and departments provide training on monthly close procedures.
  • Liaise with Payroll, Accounts Payable, Treasury, Supply Chain, and Corporate Accounting to ensure accurate division-wide expense reporting.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support internal/external audits.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting support to Division CFO and Controller.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced accounting and financial analysis capabilities.
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and accounts receivable systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial systems (General Ledger, Patient Accounting).
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and healthcare financial standards.
  • Limited travel required (approximately 10%).

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance (Required) And
  • Master’s Degree in accounting or finance (Preferred)

Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Upon Hire (Preferred)

Experience

  • 5+ years prior management experience in a hospital or healthcare accounting setting (Required)
