Job Description

This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.

The Senior Director, Business Operations and Data Governance – Intelligence Ventures serves as the operational right hand to the Head of Intelligence Ventures, responsible for running the business behind a new behavioral intelligence platform initiative within Charter Communications. This role owns the organization’s budget and serves as its primary interface to Finance, Legal, and Compliance; drives the Intelligence Ventures-level initiatives and operating rhythm that keep the leadership team aligned and on plan; and stands up the operational backbone for data governance — establishing the processes and forums that put it into practice, in close partnership with the independent Privacy and Legal functions that own the underlying policy and regulatory obligations. In parallel, this role defines how Intelligence Ventures works with its key internal partners — including Corporate Marketing, Spectrum Reach, and Business Intelligence — establishing the ways of working, coordination models, and meeting cadences through which the platform will share resources and deliver product assets across the enterprise. This is a hands-on, cross-functional leadership role for someone who can operate as a builder, an operator, and a trusted partner to the Head of Intelligence Ventures, to whom this role reports directly.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Own the operating model and rhythm of Intelligence Ventures. Drive planning, prioritization, and execution across the leadership team; manage the portfolio of organization-level initiatives end-to-end; and establish the cadences, reporting, and decision-making processes that keep a fast-moving, build-from-scratch organization aligned and accountable.
  • Own the budget and serve as the primary interface to Finance, Legal, and Compliance. Manage the organization’s budget and spend, partner with Finance on forecasting and business cases, and act as the connective point to Legal and Compliance — ensuring the organization moves quickly while staying inside enterprise guardrails.
  • Stand up and run data governance operations for the organization. Build the operational backbone — the intake and review workflows, decision forums, documentation, and cadences — that turn data governance into a working, repeatable practice in an area that does not yet have a defined owner on the business side of Charter. Rather than authoring privacy or legal policy yourself, coordinate the experts who do: partner with the independent Privacy and Legal functions, and with the platform’s technical and commercial leaders, to translate their requirements into day-to-day processes and ensure governance is embedded in how the organization operates rather than applied after the fact.
  • Define how Intelligence Ventures works with its key internal partners. Establish the ways of working, coordination models, and meeting cadences with Corporate Marketing, Spectrum Reach, and Business Intelligence — clarifying where the organizations coordinate, where Intelligence Ventures provides resources and product assets, and how shared work gets prioritized and delivered. Serve as the steady point of contact that makes cross-enterprise collaboration predictable and productive.
  • Serve as a trusted right hand to the Head of Intelligence Ventures. Translate strategy into operational plans, prepare the organization for leadership and executive reviews, chase down the details others miss, and represent the Head of Intelligence Ventures in internal forums when needed — bringing judgment, discretion, and follow-through to whatever the organization needs most.
  • Build the operational and governance foundation for scale. Put in place the processes, tools, and documentation that let the organization grow from initial build through commercial operations without losing speed or control, and instill an operating culture grounded in clarity, accountability, and sound risk management.

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum

Required Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Operations, a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Experience

  • 10+ Years Business operations, chief-of-staff, strategy-and-operations, or comparable leadership experience
  • 5 years Experience owning budgets and managing cross-functional initiatives or programs

Skills

  • Proven experience running business operations, chief-of-staff, or strategy-and-operations functions for a senior executive or business unit, ideally in a data, technology, media, or platform business
  • Demonstrated ability to own a budget and partner effectively with Finance, Legal, and Compliance functions — translating between operational reality and enterprise control requirements
  • Experience standing up or running operational processes in a governance, compliance, privacy-operations, or data-management context — enough fluency to coordinate credibly with Privacy, Legal, and technical teams; deep data-governance subject-matter expertise is a plus, not a prerequisite, as this role operationalizes governance rather than authoring its policy
  • Strong cross-functional coordination skills, with a track record of defining ways of working and operating cadences across multiple stakeholder organizations and driving alignment without direct authority
  • Excellent program- and project-management discipline; able to manage a portfolio of concurrent initiatives, keep many workstreams on track, and bring structure to ambiguity
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and executive presence; trusted to represent leadership, handle sensitive information, and make or escalate decisions appropriately
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare executive-level materials and facilitate leadership forums
  • Comfort operating in an ambiguous, early-stage, build-from-scratch environment while delivering against aggressive milestones
  • Working understanding of the privacy and regulatory landscape governing consumer data is a plus, sufficient to partner credibly with Privacy and Legal
