The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve.
The Opportunity
At Allegro MicroSystems, we are global leaders in power and sensing solutions. We are looking for a Digital Design Team Lead to help define and implement the digital architecture for our industry-leading mixed-signal motor drive ICs.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a growing, dynamic team in our Edinburgh Design Center. You will have the autonomy to influence technical direction, mentor talented engineers, and solve the most challenging problems in automotive motor control. You will be responsible for leading the architecture and design for complex digital solutions, from standalone IP to full System-on-Chip (SoC) designs.
What You'll Do
Lead Project Execution: Take full ownership of digital design project schedules for the Edinburgh team. Coordinate tasks across the standard workflow (RTL, Verification, DFT, Synthesis) to ensure on-time delivery of tapeout-ready designs.
Drive Technical Strategy: Define the digital architectural roadmap for motor drivers, ensuring alignment between team output and broader global product lines.
Manage Resources & Risk: Proactively identify technical bottlenecks or resource gaps within the team.
Cross-Functional Interface: Act as the primary digital technical point of contact for the Edinburgh centre when communicating with Marketing, Systems, and Analog Design.
Mentor and Collaborate: Act as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers and fostering a collaborative environment across the multi-site team.
Guarantee First-Pass Silicon Success: Partner with the verification team to define success criteria, ensure comprehensive functional coverage, and oversee Functional Safety (FuSa) compliance (ISO 26262).
Who You Are
Proven Leadership: 2+ years of experience leading small-to-medium sized design teams.
Process Advocate: Deep understanding of the Digital Design Workflow with a proven commitment to maintaining high quality standards and execution excellence.
Technical Expertise: 8+ years in digital design or architecture, ranging from complex algorithmic IP to full SoC designs including CPU subsystems and interconnect fabrics (e.g., AMBA/AXI).
Academic Background: PhD or Master’s degree in Electronics or a related field.
Communication Specialist: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical roadmaps to diverse audiences.
It's a plus if you have:
Expertise with Cadence toolsets for the entire front-end design flow.
Direct experience leading ISO 26262 compliant designs (ASIL B/D).
Travel Requirements
This role may require domestic and international travel up to 10-20% to support customers, vendors, and off-site design teams in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
