Key Objectives

  • Help drive the technology vision for our Cloud infrastructure;
  • Help strengthen the adoption of DevOps culture of collaboration through empowerment;
  • Conduct R&D on Cloud infrastructure technologies (e.g. k8s operators, service mesh, etc.);
  • Work on defining and implementing the next versions of our global Cloud architecture;
  • Collaborate with our Cloud SRE and support teams in defining/implementing tooling, automating, monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting and similar code and processes;
  • Close security gaps mapped by our InfoSec and SecOps teams;
  • Evolve our internal processes and codebases of infrastructure management
    • This includes adopting new tools, methodologies or practices to reduce effort;
  • Support technical teams in a collaborative, through enablement;
  • Architect and implement release processes in an automated manner;
  • Monitor system performance, security, and functionality
    • Evolve observability and alerting tools to reduce this effort;
  • Manage upgrades and patches for systems in our Cloud ecosystem
  • Help with tickets escalated via our Cloud Customer Care and Support teams;
  • Create and maintain architectural, security and other documentation as needed for each system supported;
    • Brief documentation used in README files;
    • Deeper documentation with architectural detailing and decisions;
    • Technical diagrams
  • Provide technical support to include troubleshooting user operating problems, application problems, system configuration issues and malfunctions, and network operating problems in our Cloud environments;
  • Mentor aspiring developers on the team, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience;
  • Experience running and operating Kubernetes on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE);
  • Experience in writing Kubernetes artifacts using Helm;
  • Experience in Continuous Delivery processes of Kubernetes applications with GitOps practices using ArgoCD;
  • Solid experience with Docker and Terraform, Terragrunt and Atlantis;
  • Strong experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production environment;
  • Experience scripting in one of the languages used by system engineers (shell, golang, etc).;
  • Experience operating large-scale distributed systems (preferably running on public cloud);
  • Knowledge of Networking, VPN (IPSec with IKEv2), and experience identifying and solving network issues;
  • Strong communication and team player skills;
  • Comfortable with Agile practices for delivering iterative solutions to the business;
  • Experience with Kanban methodology and JIRA;
  • Build and maintain a solid knowledge base usable by different teams, technical and otherwise;
  • Experience using Confluence;
  • Solid knowledge in Linux architecture and troubleshooting;
  • Experience working with Objective Key Results (OKRs) methodology;
  • Strong feedback skills;
  • Both receiving and providing feedback in 1:1 meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with at least one of the following managed Kubernetes services:
    • Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
    • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
    • Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)
    • RedHat OpenShift Kubernetes Service (ROKS)
  • Experience in automating development processes and environments;
  • Experience implementing full CI/CD pipelines;
  • Experience with Kubernetes-based projects, like cert-manager, service meshes (istio.io or linkerd.io), storage solutions;
  • Experience with Linux, MySQL, Nginx, Tomcat, Git, Jenkins;
  • Any of the following certifications is a plus:
    • Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect;
    • Google Cloud Certified Professional DevOps Engineer;
    • Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Security Engineer;
    • Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Network Engineer.
