The primary mission of the Development Engineer is efficiently developing required turbocharger(s) & sub-modules to meet customer’s needs, ensure it is in line with the product portfolios, and the latest technologies available. The final turbocharger(s) must be economically and practically able to be put into production.
The Engineer is expected to complete the design work (both 3D/2D) independently and takes initiative to solve design issues from customer/supplier/manufactory with minimal guidance.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop next generation turbocharger or sub-modules
End to end modules' ownership, meeting all turbocharger functional requirements (Performance, Reliability, Quality, Costs & Timing) in NPI2.
Accountable for Internal & External APQP on Bill of Material.
Accountable for 2D & 3D creation and quality according to documented Design Standards & guidelines
Create and excute design validation plan according internal specification, including simulation, or prepare hardware and test, final report out with validation summary.
Actively communicate with associate departments as a team member to ensure on-time milestones.
Support Lead Engineer for concept review and NPI phase 2 exit.
Benchmark best product in market to ensure Garrett technology advantage.
Support IP analysis to ensure new concepts have no violation with existed patent.
Routinely guides and shares knowledge with team members.
Support VE/HLRR activities.
Support FIR activities.
Job Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical. Turbomachinery, Internal Combustion Engine / Powertrain or Motor generating is plus.
5~8 years relevant experience in mechanical engineering, Turbocharger related experience is plus.
Proficient user of CAD for industrial design (both 3D/2D), such as Catia, Pro/E or UG, Onshape is better.
Experienced in design of engineering components, both 2D & 3D, Strong knowledge about GD&T and its application, in automotive industry. Experience of CAE is plus.
Proficient in Design for Manufacturing & Cost.
Good plan and schedule management skills, knowledge of the product design process is plus.
Good oral and written communication skills in both mandarin and English.
Technology exchange capabilities with customers, suppliers and management team.
Positive attitude, willingness to learn and an aptitude for analysis.
Good team work spirit.
