Lead and execute mechanical design activities for New Product Development (NPD) programs from concept through production launch. This role partners closely with engineering, product management, manufacturing, and suppliers to develop robust, cost-effective, and manufacturable product solutions.

The ideal candidate for a Sr. Designer would be able to do the following:

  1. Lead design execution for NPD projects, including concept development, architecture definition, and detailed design

  1. Translate product requirements into engineered design solutions that meet performance, cost, and manufacturability targets

  1. Drive design reviews and provide recommendations based on engineering rigor

  1. Develop complex 3D models, assemblies, and production drawings using SolidWorks

  1. Perform design analysis including: Tolerance stack-ups, Fit/function validation, and Thermal and structural considerations (as applicable)

  1. Own drawing quality and adherence to GD&T and company standards

  1. Partner with: Engineering (ME, EE, systems), Manufacturing and Operations, and Supply Chain and suppliers

  1. Support DFMA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) and cost optimization efforts early in development

  1. Lead and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) with full understanding of downstream impacts

  1. Maintain and manage BOM structures with high accuracy

  1. Ensure design documentation is production-ready and audit-compliant

  1. Contribute to design standards, libraries, and best practices

  1. Mentor designers and detailers on best practices, CAD techniques, and engineering fundamentals

  1. Provide backup support for EPDM administration and data governance

Qualifications

For a candidate to be successful as a Sr. Designer they must have:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design or Engineering-related field

  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical design, with direct experience in NPD environments

  • Proven track record of taking products from concept through production release

  • Advanced proficiency in: SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD) and PDM/PLM systems (EPDM preferred)

  • Strong expertise in: GD&T application and interpretation, Tolerance analysis and stack-ups, and Sheet metal design and fabrication

  • Working knowledge of: Manufacturing processes (fabrication, welding, machining, assembly) and DFMA principles and cost drivers

  • Strong engineering judgment and problem-solving capability

  • Ability to manage multiple NPD projects and meet critical timelines

  • Effective communication across technical and non-technical teams

  • High attention to detail with a system-level design mindset

  • Ownership mentality with focus on execution and results
