What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a Senior Counsel, Products to support the sales and service of various products and address related regulatory matters across North and South America. This role involves providing legal advice on Tesla’s diverse product portfolio, driving expansion into new markets while ensuring compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and statutory requirements. The position requires close collaboration with local sales, service, registration, policy, and finance teams to maintain compliance with business license and regulatory requirements. Based in Austin, Texas, or Palo Alto, California, this role demands independent execution of broad legal tasks while fostering strong partnerships with business and legal teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide advice and counsel on laws and regulations applicable to Tesla’s products, sales, and service
  • Partner with sales and service teams to ensure local compliance with applicable state and county laws and regulations
  • Support sales, service, and finance business teams on day-to-day operations by conducting relevant due diligence and drafting consumer-facing documents and communications as needed
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents

What You’ll Bring

  • JD Degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Member of a U.S. state bar
  • 8-12 years of experience in product counseling and regulatory matters
  • Ability to absorb and synthesize a wide variety of laws and regulations, primarily related to the sale and service of consumer products
  • Ability to exercise both business and legal judgment with strong problem-solving, research, and project management skills while working closely with the business

Expected Compensation

$188,000 - $318,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
