How Corporate Project Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Corporate Engineering is responsible for providing technical leadership and strategic support across the organization's manufacturing and operational sites. The department drives engineering standards, capital projects, innovation, process optimization and long-term operational improvements aligned with business objectives.

The Sr. Corporate Project Engineer acts as a bridge between corporate strategy and plant execution, ensuring that projects are implemented consistently, efficiently, and in compliance with industry regulations.

This role requires strong project management skills, technical problem-solving abilities, effective communication and the capability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment with multiple stakeholders. Works within the constraints of budget, schedule and scope while managing risk, aligning stakeholders and ensuring adherence to established processes and methodologies. May execute process validations.

This is a hybrid position based in Costa Rica.

Qualifications

  • At least 5+ years of experience in medical device industry
  • Strong experience in process and equipment validations (IQ/OQ/PQ/TMV)
  • Experience leading engineering projects and cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience in process transfers and new product introductions
  • Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments
  • Bilingual English level (advanced/fluent written and verbal communication required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
  • Experience supporting automation, manufacturing optimization and capital projects is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of change control, risk management and engineering documentation
  • US Visa required
  • PMP certification is a plus

What is expected of you and others at this level

Leads engineering and operational projects across multiple sites

Coordinate activities between manufacturing, quality, supply chain, validation, regulatory affairs and external vendors

Ensure projects comply with regulatory and quality standards including FDA, ISO and internal procedures

Support process improvements focused on efficiency, quality and cost reduction

Develop project timelines, risk assessments, budgets and status reports for leadership

Manage equipment installation, process transfers, validations and automation initiatives

Support change control, validation protocols/reports and engineering documentation updates

Provide technical leadership and project execution support to manufacturing sites

Communicate project progress and technical information effectively to stakeholders at all organizational levels

Drive problem-solving activities and support root cause investigations

May act as a mentor to other project engineers

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
