Job Description

Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation (UIC) is seeking a Sr. Corporate Benefits Analyst. Under the direction of the Sr. Corporate Director of Human Resources and in coordination with the UICGS Benefits Program Manager, this position will support the administration and delivery of employee benefit programs and related HR initiatives for UIC Corporate and Alaska-based subsidiaries. This position administers company benefit programs, serves as a primary point of contact for benefit-related inquiries, supports leave administration and compliance activities, coordinates with vendors and Payroll, and assists with board and executive wellness programs.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include:

Benefits Administration

    • Manage day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs for UIC Corporate and Alaska-based subsidiaries.
    • Administer new hire enrollments, qualified life events, status changes, benefit terminations, and open enrollment activities.
    • Review and approve benefit elections to ensure eligibility and compliance with plan provisions.
    • Process and maintain required documentation for benefit changes and dependent verification.
    • Coordinate employee benefit deductions with Payroll and assist with monthly benefit reconciliations.
    • Monitor and process Evidence of Insurability (EOI) requests and carrier determinations.
    • Administer and support medical, dental, vision, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), 401(k), wellness programs, life insurance, disability programs, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and related company-sponsored benefit programs.
    • Support annual open enrollment activities, including testing, employee communications, system validation, and employee assistance.
    • Monitor Davis Bacon Act (DBA), Title 36, Service Contract Act (SCA), and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) benefit requirements, waivers, and related compliance activities.
    • Process employee leave-related premium collections and coordinate benefit continuation activities.
    • Assist with board and executive management benefit programs.

Employee Support and Vendor Coordination

    • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding UIC Corporate and Alaska-based subsidiary benefit programs, enrollment procedures, and qualified life events.
    • Provide employee education and support regarding company benefit offerings and procedures.
    • Act as liaison between employees, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and vendors to resolve benefit-related questions and issues.
    • Work with the Benefits Program Manager to develop employee benefit communications and educational materials.
    • Attend insurance carrier and vendor meetings as needed.

Leave Administration and Compliance

    • Process and support leave administration activities, including FMLA, leaves of absence, military leave, and accommodation requests.
    • Support compliance with applicable federal and state benefit and leave laws and regulations.
    • Respond to medical support notices, agency requests, and court-related benefit inquiries.
    • Provide support to employees and managers regarding benefits-related policies and procedures.
    • Support HR audits and provide requested benefits and payroll-related reporting and documentation.

Reporting & HR Support

    • Generate HRIS and benefits-related reports for audits, compliance reviews, Payroll, and HR leadership.
    • Assist with benefits system audits, data cleanup, and reporting validation activities.
    • Support HR process improvement initiatives and benefits administration projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of employee benefit administration principles and practices.
  • Ability to interpret and explain benefit plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with employees, vendors, and leadership.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Five or more years of experience administering employee benefit programs and leave processes required.
  • Experience working with HRIS and benefits administration systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state employment and benefits regulations.
  • Experience supporting Service Contract Act (SCA), Davis Bacon Act (DBA), Title 36, and/or Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) environments.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), SHRM-CP, PHR, or other related HR or benefits certification.
  • UKG Pro experience.
  • Experience supporting executive health or executive wellness programs.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer and keyboard operation.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, bend, or lift office materials up to 15 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based work environment with prolonged periods of computer use.
  • Occasional additional hours may be required during open enrollment, audits, or special projects.
  • Occasional travel may be required for meetings or training.
