Position(s): Sr. Construction Manager
Shift Schedule: 3 Weeks on, 1 week off
Per Diem: available when on-site
Location: Southern Ontario Region

Forbes Bros Ltd. is currently looking for experienced Sr. Construction Manager (full-time, permanent) to join our team, This position will require the successful candidate(s) to travel to various job sites in Southern Ontario in addition to occasional inter-provincial travel as per business and/or project needs.

The Sr. Construction Manager is responsible for supporting the field supervision as a technical advisor at the field level and may also directly manage field crews for construction installation. Additionally, the Sr. Construction Manager will troubleshoot difficulties and help implement the preferred work solutions to ensure the project is completed as per Company, Client, schedule, and cost requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Emulates Forbes Bros core value of 'WE WORK SAFE' in all daily tasks
  • Working closely with Major Projects Service Groups in managing aspects of safety including incident prevention, training compliance, and addressing continuous improvement
  • Educate field supervision on the appropriate steps for reporting all incidents, Client safety concerns and regulatory involvement to the Major Project HSE Director and Project Management team
  • Support field supervision for technical needs by being available and visible in the field
  • Verify and validate that employees and subcontractors are competent and qualified to perform their work task
  • Provide guidance to field supervision on the proper/safe execution of work tasks according to Client and Company standards and strategic input to the identification and continuous improvement of training and career development opportunities and initiatives that align with company vision and technical aspects of the construction work
  • Work with field supervision to coach and train individuals for improved performance and/or career progression through the completion of performance evaluations
  • Assist in developing technical work practices to improve safety, quality, and productivity
  • Review and approve alterations to Work Instructions and Integrated Work Plans
  • Assist in the development of bid document components related to safety, technical aspects, and work plans
  • Review and technical specifications, IFC drawings, tools and equipment certifications, correct materials in place, permits and training are in place, the quality of the materials is correct and default free prior to crew start
  • Ensure all project team members inspect the quality of their work meeting the project quality plan, Inspection Test Plan (ITP), and technical specifications
  • Ensure quality checks are completed and deficiencies are corrected in timely manner directly after task completion for client acceptance and sign off
  • Verify all Quality documentation is completed and signed off and verify implementation of corrective actions and preventive actions
  • Conduct field checks of the Integrated Work Plans and Work Instructions being used to execute safety, quality, and productivity (SQP)
  • Coordinate with field supervision to ensure equipment is being utilized in the most cost-efficient way and managed when it's no longer required on the project
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure work force requirements, field operations execution requirements and company, client and project requirements and deadlines are met and opportunities for continual improvement
  • Assisting with continuous improvement projects and other operational tasks, as required

What We Are Looking For:

  • Eight (8) + years of Powerline Construction Management, are required
  • Journeyman Powerline Technician certification or equivalent , is required
  • Experience in transmission powerline construction, is strongly preferred
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License, is required
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to direct a team to efficiently and effectively complete jobs within deadlines
  • Results oriented individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and timelines
  • Able and willing to accommodate frequent overtime hours and weekend hours when required
  • Able and willing to travel to various project locations as required
  • Able and willing to provide an acceptable five (5) year Driver's Abstract
