Position Title: Sr. Commercial Manager
Department: Commercial Operations
Compensation: $150,000 - $200,000 + annual bonus (paid in local currency)
Reports To: Commercial Director
Location: Canada or United States
About the Role:
The Commercial Manager will play a critical role in our rapidly growing Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) team and our expansion within the Global markets (North America, LATAM). The Commercial Manager will own and lead the RFP & competitive bid processes, the negotiation of contracts with contractors & suppliers, conduct cost analysis, and making strategic product decisions for projects ranging in scope and complexity for assigned projects.
Responsibilities:
Own and lead the RFP response and competitive bid processes for projects globally, analyzing commercial and legal aspects of Customer RFPs to develop a competitive submission to continue to grow the execution pipeline
Lead the Customer and sub-contractor contract negotiation phase for equipment, services, and EPC contracts by collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks
Develop key requirements for RFPs to sub-contractors and evaluate the bid results
Responsible for bid analysis and modelling to support the strategic procurement process
Work with supply chain to capture competitive intelligence and generate insights on supply chain and BESS landscape
Interacts with external parties including Customers, vendors, and potential suppliers
Actively identify opportunities to improve business processes and support the implementation of such
Ensure the organization's internal contract documents are accurate and well maintained
Provide contract support to the Project’s team during contract execution
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Educational background in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field
Commercial contract negotiation and RFPs management experience for equipment supply in the energy sector
Proficient at aggregating and understanding and responding to requirements and information as part of the RFP process
Proven experience in partnering with internal and external stakeholders to optimize a response and the decision-making process
Strong intrapreneurial mindset for process analysis, problem solving and strategy development skills
Ability to take critical decisions in the face of limited or conflicting data and under time pressure
Excellent communication skills and confidence with executive level presentations

About Canadian Solar EMEA GmbH in Munich
In 2009, Canadian Solar EMEA GmbH was founded and comprises currently of more than 50 employees from 18 different nations. Highly skilled experts represent our team and we are confident to serve our customers. We are a sales organization and can support our sales team from the Munich office within the fields of technical, legal, accounting, marketing, logistics and order fulfillment matters.
Within the EMEA region, we are distinguishing between three different business lines: modules sales, digital solutions and energy business . The first two teams lead from the Munich office, are responsible for the modules sales and digital solutions are finally reporting to CCO Yan Zhuang, responsible for the global sales within Canadian Solar. Globally, the Energy Business Team is led by Arthur Chen and teams are located across Europe in UK and Spain. In the near future Milan will be added. Across all cross-functional departments key personnel is identified as platform to coordinate and support the separate business lines in legal, human resources, accounting and operational matters.
