POSITION OVERVIEW

The Sr. Commercial Finance Analyst exists to give Coffee Services Division leaders a clear, current view of pricing, profitability, and cost of goods sold so that commercial decisions are made on margin, not volume alone. The role owns pricing and gross margin analysis, COGS and trade-spend analytics, and the budget, forecast, and strategic-plan cycles for the Coffee Services Division across each of its channels, acting as a finance business partner rather than a reporting function. It works most closely with division leaders, Accounting, and Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain partners. Success is measured by the quality and timeliness of margin insight, forecast accuracy, and recommendations that leaders act on to grow profit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead pricing, profitability, and gross margin analysis for the Coffee Services Division, modeling the margin impact of price actions, cost movements, product and customer mix, and promotional or trade investments, and recommending actions to leadership.
  • Analyze cost of goods sold — green coffee, packaging, manufacturing, and freight — against standards and forecast, explaining variances and quantifying the margin impact of commodity and input-cost changes.
  • Evaluate business opportunities and risks — new product launches, pricing actions, trade and advertising investments, customer or channel expansion, and supply chain initiatives — with ROI and margin analysis.
  • Serve as finance business partner to Coffee Services Division leaders, translating financial results into actionable recommendations that drive profitable growth and cost savings.
  • Lead the annual budget and periodic forecast cycles for the Coffee Services Division, consolidating inputs, challenging assumptions, and communicating deadlines and deliverables.
  • Support the Five-Year Strategic Plan with forecast modeling, scenario analysis, and presentation materials for senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare and update downhill projections, applying insights from business reviews to year-end performance targets.
  • Build and maintain AI-enabled management reporting and dashboards that track pricing, margin, and performance against budget, forecast, and prior year, using approved analytics and AI tools.
  • Analyze current and projected performance against internal targets, competitor results, and industry trends, and identify cost-saving and profit-generating opportunities.
  • Serve as liaison between the Coffee Services Division, Accounting, and Information Services on financial impacts, reporting needs, proposed adjustments, and system enhancements.
  • Educate business managers on pricing and margin drivers, budgeting, and return-on-investment considerations.

Performs other duties as assigned. The responsibilities listed are not exhaustive and may change to meet business needs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of five or more years of relevant analytical experience, with demonstrated ability to analyze pricing, profitability, gross margin, and cost of goods sold and translate findings into recommendations leaders act on, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Ability to present financial analysis and recommendations clearly to senior leaders and non-finance audiences.
  • Travel: Up to 10%

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration preferred. An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience is considered.
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification preferred.
  • Financial planning and analysis, commercial finance, or pricing experience in consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, or manufacturing.
  • Experience with trade spend, promotional effectiveness, or commodity-driven cost analysis.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA and Power BI or comparable ERP and business intelligence tools.

Internal Candidates

  • Internal candidates' experience can be considered for a position within Community Coffee at the discretion of Human Resources and the Hiring Manager of the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment; prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and working at a computer.
  • Occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, and movement between work areas and meeting locations.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
