Hendrick Motorsports a leader in the auto racing industry is currently seeking a Sr. 5-Axis CNC Machinist / Programmer.

  • Tasked with creating and revising programs for CNC machinery.
  • They must understand and interpret complex technical drawings and translate them into executable CNC programs.
  • The role demandsa high levelof precision and attention to detail to ensure that machine outputs meet exact specifications and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read, interpret, and program CNC machines with data from technical drawings or specifications.
  • Create ormodify5-axisCNC programs for production runsincludingentering instructions, setting tool registers, and calculating requirements.
  • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments
  • Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems
  • Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction
  • Stop machines to remove finished workpieces or to change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement, according to required machining sequences
  • Check to ensure that workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation
  • Input initial part dimensions into machine control panels
  • Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or production errors or to obtain approval to continue production
  • Monitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications to detect malfunctions
  • Clean machines, tooling, or parts using solvents or solutions and rags. Also responsible for cleaning the shop and ensuring safe housekeeping on an ongoing basis.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerance using knowledge of mathematics and instruments.
  • Set,monitor, andmodifytolerance levels and cutting speeds to producethe component orpart tospecification
  • Inspect produced components or parts to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Must be able to use tools, such as lathes, mills, cutters, and grinders as needed to perform required requested work
  • Siemens NX software and programming highly desired

Desired Education:

  • GED or High School Diploma

Desired Work Experience:

  • 8+ years

Education / Experience:

  • Must be a team player and effectivelyutilizestrong communicationskills with others in the department and organization.
  • Requiresextensive knowledge of hand tools, drill press, grinders, and other machine shop equipment

Computer Skills:

  • Basic computer skills arerequired
  • CAD skills or experience with similar software programs preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Certificatein Machining or a related discipline preferred.

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicateeffectively with customers andcompany personnel

Attendance Expectations:

  • The position requires regular and predictable attendance
  • Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able toworka flexible schedule as needed.
