Job Description

Looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to support a large Air Force, IT enterprise, Cyber Weapons System/Program in San Antonio, TX.

In this role, you will lead the design, deployment, and optimization of hybrid cloud and virtualization infrastructures across multiple platforms, including AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI. You will leverage Infrastructure-as-Code tools, containerization, orchestration, and monitoring solutions to ensure scalable, secure, and cost-effective operations. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will integrate cloud services, enforce security and compliance standards, and support CI/CD pipelines within a DevSecOps framework. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers, troubleshoot complex issues, and document processes to maintain operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the design, deployment, and maintenance of hybrid cloud infrastructures across on-premises and commercial/government cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI) utilizing IaaS and PaaS solutions.
  • Administer and optimize virtualization platforms such as VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, and cloud-native virtualization technologies.
  • Assist with automating deployments, configurations, and resource provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools including Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
  • Collaborate with cloud and infrastructure teams to support integration efforts and ensure consistent enterprise solutions.
  • Implement and support containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes within cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Monitor cloud and virtualization environments to maintain system availability, performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, application, and system issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Apply security best practices including IAM, encryption, and network segmentation while supporting compliance with frameworks such as RMF, NIST, and ISO 27001.
  • Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines and assist with automation efforts across the software development lifecycle.
  • Configure and maintain monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.) to support operational monitoring and incident response activities.
  • Maintain technical documentation including system configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to junior team members and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, and program stakeholders to support infrastructure solutions aligned with mission and business requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires BS and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Must have a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).
  • Must have an advanced cloud certification (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer for example).
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

  • Cloud Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer.
  • Security Certifications: CISSP, CEH, GIAC or Cloud Security Automation (GCSA).
  • Experience with security frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST 800-53).
  • Knowledge of scripting or programming languages, such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Familiarity with log management and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, or ELK stack).
  • Experience with SIEM and/or SOAR tools and capabilities.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
