Reports to a senior leader within the Financial Sponsors Group
Works closely with Financial Sponsors coverage bankers, Capital Markets partners, Product and Industry groups, and senior firm leadership

We are seeking an experienced Business Unit Analyst to support the Financial Sponsors Group (FSG). This role plays a critical part in driving internal aspects of FSG strategy, reporting, analysis, and strategic insights for the Financial Sponsors business and will be highly visible to senior leadership. The Business Analyst will partner closely with senior managers across the firm and within the group on data management, internal data and reporting functions and data interpretation. Overall role is to design procedures and practices to deliver accurate, insightful, and actionable analytics that support business performance and strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings strong financial acumen, analytical rigor, and the ability to synthesize complex data into clear narratives for senior audiences. The individual brings demonstrated curiosity around emerging analytics and AI-enabled tools, and an interest in applying them to improve reporting, workflow efficiency, and insight generation across the platform

Key Responsibilities

Financial & Business Performance Analysis

  • Analyze the financial performance and metrics of group performance on a monthly and quarterly basis, including key drivers, trends, and variances
  • Create, use and experiment with dashboards or data reports to assist FSG bankers in their roles
  • Evaluate business and product profitability, sponsor coverage performance, and contribution by product, client, and market
  • Develop and maintain driver‑based analyses to assess performance under various scenarios and support strategic planning efforts

Reporting & Executive Materials

  • Lead the preparation of recurring and regular reporting packages for Group Heads and senior leadership, including materials for Board‑level discussions
  • Partner with senior leaders to ensure reporting provides insightful view of activity and drives efficiency in support of strategic priorities
  • Ensure reconciliation, accuracy, and integrity of all data used in reporting and presentations

Product & Coverage Effectiveness

  • Analyze the firm’s success selling products to financial sponsors and identify opportunities to improve penetration, coordination, and client outcomes
  • Support coverage officers with tailored analyses, client reviews, league‑table insights, and marketing materials
  • Assist with new initiatives, from strategic approach, implementation, launch and evaluation

Data, Tools & Process Enhancement

  • Partner with the firm’s internal data and analytics teams to enhance reporting tools, dashboards, and management capabilities
  • Monitor data quality and enrichment practices, ensuring consistency, completeness, and integrity across datasets
  • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes, improve automation, and advance analytical capabilities

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Computer/AI or a related field
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, business performance reporting, data analysis, and preparing senior-level presentation materials.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate profitability, performance drivers, and strategic initiatives
  • Experience analyzing complex data and translating insights into clear, concise and impactful communications for senior audiences
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on data accuracy and integrity
  • Ability to partner effectively across teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment

Preferred

  • Experience with internal support of business units and corresponding systems or data tools
  • Familiarity with internal financial reporting systems, dashboards, or data visualization tools
  • Experience preparing materials for senior leadership or Board‑level audiences

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $69,000.00 - $105,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
