Senior Business Analyst – Merchant Acquiring / Embedded Finance

About the Role

We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Analyst to support our Embedded Finance and Merchant Acquiring product initiatives. In this role, you’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and external partners to translate business needs into precise requirements and ensure successful delivery of APIs, financial features, and operational workflows.
You will help define BRDs, FRDs, PRDs, user journeys, and process documentation to enable seamless integration of financial services into client ecosystems.

Core Responsibilities

Requirement Gathering & Documentation

Collaborate with Product Directors/Managers to understand product vision and break it into detailed business & functional requirements.

Create BRDs, FRDs, PRDs, workflow diagrams, and API requirement specifications.

Translate client feedback and pain points into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.

Product Delivery & Execution

Work with Engineering to ensure requirements are clearly understood and implemented correctly.

Support sprint planning, backlog grooming, and prioritize stories based on business value.

Validate features during QA/UAT and ensure defect resolution and timely releases.

Process Mapping & Optimization

Design end-to-end process flows for payments, payouts, onboarding, KYC/AML, merchant setup, and reconciliation.

Identify gaps in current processes and propose enhancements for scalability and compliance.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Partner with Sales, Partnerships, and Client Success to gather market needs and onboarding requirements.

Support GTM documentation including feature guides, release notes, and operational SOPs.

Work directly with merchants, ISVs, and financial partners to clarify requirements and integration constraints.

Data & Analysis

Analyze product KPIs (usage, adoption, failure rates, throughput) and provide insights to guide roadmap decisions.

Support business cases, competitive benchmarking, and commercial impact assessments.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in payments, fintech, merchant acquiring, banking, or embedded finance.

Strong understanding of money movement flows — ACH, card processing, RTP, payouts, A2A/pay-by-bank.

Hands-on experience writing BRDs, FRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, API specifications

Ability to work with technical teams on API-based product development.

Solid knowledge of compliance, risk, and regulatory concepts (PCI, KYC/AML, NACHA).

Excellent communication skills — able to simplify complexity for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Proficiency with tools like JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Postman (basic), SQL (nice to have).

Nice-to-Have

Experience with embedded finance platforms, merchant onboarding workflows, or pay-ins, payout orchestration.

Familiarity with Finxact, Carat, and any merchant onboarding systems

Understanding of API developer experience and sandbox testing flows.

Exposure to AI/ML, fraud analytics, or risk scoring systems.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum with distributed teams.
