Your Role:

EMD Serono in Billerica, MA is seeking a Sr. Associate Scientist – Oligonucleotide Chemistry to add to their Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Group (DDTech).

Responsibilities:

  • Synthesis of oligonucleotides, deprotection, purification, desalting and lyophilization of oligonucleotides
  • Operate Expedite/ABI/Mermade synthesizers and HPLC systems
  • Prepare oligonucleotide synthesis reagents and synthesize, process, and purify ASO/siRNA using automated instruments by anion-exchange and reverse-phase HPLC systems
  • Desalt, concentrate, and lyophilize final Oligo’s material using appropriate instrumentation or techniques
  • Maintain a well-documented laboratory notebook and follow the safe laboratory practices
  • Operate and troubleshooting available instruments including HPLC and MS
  • Maintain an electronic laboratory notebook and miscellaneous documentation and maintain reagent inventory

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry or other Engineering or Life Science discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in oligonucleotide field

OR

  • Master’s Degree Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry or other Engineering or Life Science discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of Oligonucleotide chemistry
  • Experience with a wide range of Oligo purification/analytical techniques, especially HPLC and/or HPLC-MS
  • Experience in performing desalting by using gel filtration or membrane filtration techniques
  • High degrees of flexibility and motivation in a fast-paced work environment

Pay Range for this position: $95,900 - $143,800

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
