The Senior Analyst, Business Planning and Development is an essential role within the Business Planning and Development team who facilitates short-term and long-term business planning through initiative intake and execution of business development processes. This role regularly analyzes the company’s objectives to ensure key performance metrics and commitments are on-track, while ensuring appropriate governance is consistently applied.

  • Lead annual strategic planning processes and facilitate initiative in-take
  • Drive adoption of frameworks, dashboard, scorecards and other reports to assess strategic priorities, and ensure alignment by key stakeholders
  • Track performance of initiatives, and regularly report on progress to meet strategic objectives and key performance metrics
  • Interpret business results and translate findings into strategic insights for the business planning and development team and senior leadership
  • Effectively communicate the significance of strategic insights to drive business decisions
  • Facilitate weekly coordination of initiative inputs from business and data owners across the company, and analyze for opportunities of improvement
  • Assist in definition and lead execution of processes throughout business development lifecycle, and ensure appropriate governance is applied
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) internally on governance, best practices and benchmarks helping to inform and guide business planning and development
  • Develop high-quality presentations and other supporting materials for the Business Planning and Development and leadership teams
  • Ensure all activities comply with Pilot Company rules, policies and procedures
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, management or other related field
  • 3+ years in corporate strategy or business planning role

Specialized Knowledge

  • Understanding of enterprise strategy management methodologies (ex: Balanced Scorecards, Objective Key Results, etc.)
  • Familiarity with business development lifecycle stages
  • High proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word

Competencies

  • Strong conceptual problem-solving skills and business acumen
  • Proficient communication skills (written and oral) to facilitate discussions and present to senior leaders
  • Ability to take ambiguous problems or tasks and develop structured approach and solution
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and project manage
  • Ability to foster relationships with key stakeholders, provide advisory support and gain credibility

Founded by James Haslam II, the first Pilot gas station was opened in Gate City, Virginia, in 1958. After more than four decades of rapid growth, expansion and partnership, Pilot and Marathon Oil Company entered an agreement to form Pilot Travel Centers in 2001.

Over the years, Pilot Travel Centers experienced significant growth and expanded internationally, opening its first travel center in Canada in 2006. In 2007, Pilot bought Marathon Petroleum’s shares and entered a new partnership with CVC Capital Partner in 2008. Two years later, Pilot Travel Centers and Flying J Inc. entered an agreement, officially creating Pilot Flying J on July 1, 2010.
