New Jersey Resources is seeking a Sr. Accountant External Reporting to provide accounting and reporting support for the Company's external reporting requirements, including preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, researching applicable SEC regulations and assisting with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. Oversee the preparation of the employee benefit plan reports and related audit; provide support on other financial reporting and technical accounting functions as necessary.

Major Responsibilities
• Prepare Form 10-Q and 10-K footnote disclosures and supporting documentation.
• Create and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensure financial information has been recorded accurately.
• Leverage analytics to support management discussion and analysis in SEC filings and draft related commentary.
• Train users on the external reporting software and assist in transitioning accounting and finance spreadsheets from Excel.
• Manage the external reporting software data collection process, including validating data for completeness, accuracy and consistency across reports
• Prepare and maintain quarterly reporting calendar to support timely SEC reporting.
• Manage timeline and coordinate deliverables from key stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate completion of SEC filings.
• Review and analyze financial information and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy and alignment with various financial reports.
• Maintain Financial Reporting SOX documentation and support to ensure compliance.
• Assist with XBRL mapping and maintenance.
• Assist with other regulatory reporting and associated audits.
• Perform research and benchmarking of Company disclosures and XBRL to other SEC financial filings.
• Prepare and review employee benefit plan financial statements and assist with audit process.
• Assist with research, implementation and analysis of effects of new authoritative accounting guidance or SEC compliance initiatives.
• Liaison with Treasury on bank compliance reporting, including preparation of covenant financial ratio calculations.
• Coordinate with Corporate Communications on earnings press releases and annual report to shareholders.
• Participate in special projects to support the technical requirements and process improvements, as needed.
• Partner with Treasury to provide finance and accounting support for various transactions and debt offerings as necessary.
Position Requirements:
• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA is a plus.
• 5+ years of related experience is required, including SEC reporting experience.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong organizational, communication and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize to satisfy multiple requests and deadlines.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with Workiva Wdesk external reporting software

Other Details:
Job Location Type is Hybrid.
Compensation: Expected base pay range for this role will be $87,700- $111,800.
Base pay is based on several factors including, experience, skills, and knowledge.
This role will be eligible to participate in an annual short term incentive program.
