WHAT WE'RE SEEKING

The Senior Accountant is responsible for working with our accounting group to produce accurate and timely financial statements for internal and external use, with primary focus on revenue and expense oversight for partnerships, media, and marketing in accordance with applicable accounting standards. This role works closely with the Partnerships and Marketing teams, as well as other functions, to gather the information needed to properly account for transactions across the business, and interacts with corporate and site-level associates and managers to communicate financial information. We are looking for someone who is a quick learner, can work with fairly minimal oversight in a fast-paced environment, and works well across teams.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and review partnership contracts for proper accounting under ASC 606, and prepare monthly journal entries to record transactions in the appropriate accounting periods
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting
• Invoice and review payment application related to the partnerships business
• Lead meetings with Partnerships business representatives to gather financial information related to executed or planned partnership contracts
• Coordinate expense recognition for marketing programs, including beverage, commercial, and social media advertising, and prepare the related journal entries
• Analyze and review various types of venue and corporate transactions related to the partnership and media business for financial completeness and accuracy
• Provide accounting support to venues, including month-end close accruals and analysis, and respond to related questions
• Support quarterly reviews and annual audits, including schedule preparation and fulfilling sample selection requests; work with the accounting team to enhance and maintain process and control improvements in accordance with SOX
• Support other venue-related accounting activity as needed

CORE COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS

Technical Accounting & Compliance

Applies deep knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition standards to keep partnership and marketing accounting compliant and accurate.

• Analyzes and reviews partnership contracts for proper accounting under ASC 606
• Maintains an in-depth understanding of GAAP and the ability to research and apply technical accounting issues to recording financial results

Financial Reporting & Reconciliation

Delivers accurate, timely financial statements through disciplined journal entry and reconciliation practices.

• Prepares monthly journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting
• Coordinates expense recognition for marketing programs and prepares the related journal entries

Partnership & Marketing Business Support

Serves as the accounting point of contact for the Partnerships and Marketing teams throughout the deal and billing lifecycle.

• Invoices and reviews payment application related to the partnerships business
• Leads meetings with Partnerships business representatives to gather financial information on executed or planned contracts

Audit, Controls & Venue Support

Supports the broader accounting team on audit readiness, control improvements, and venue-level accounting needs.

• Supports quarterly reviews and annual audits, including schedule preparation and sample selection requests
• Works with the accounting team to enhance and maintain process and control improvements in accordance with SOX
• Provides accounting support to venues, including month-end close accruals, analysis, and responses to questions

Cross-Functional Communication

Translates accounting concepts for non-accounting partners and works well across corporate and site-level teams.

• Explains accounting concepts clearly to non-accounting employees and business stakeholders
• Works effectively with minimal oversight in a fast-paced, team-based environment

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management required
• 4+ years of related professional experience in a financial/accounting function
• 2+ years of experience applying ASC 606
• In-depth understanding of GAAP and the ability to research and apply technical accounting issues to recording financial results
• Ability to explain accounting concepts to non-accounting employees
• Intermediate to advanced understanding of the Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel
• Ability to work with various and multiple software and reporting systems, including utilization of AI to enhance business processes
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• A strong team player who participates in accomplishing team goals
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and projects

Bonus Qualifications

• CPA license preferred
• SAP knowledge a plus
