Job Description
Purpose and Objective
The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial records, supporting the monthly close process, retail accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and continuous process improvement.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Execute the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare financial analyses and variance explanations to support accurate financial reporting and management decision-making.
- Reconcile retail sales, cash, credit card transactions, and other key balance sheet accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies with store operations.
- Manage fixed assets, accruals, intercompany transactions, employee expense reports, and other assigned general ledger accounts.
- Support retail accounting activities, including chargeback resolution, store inquiries, and customer payment, refund, and accounting-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with sales tax, business licenses, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Retail Operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions.
- Assist with external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls, improve efficiency, and support the company's continued growth.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements:
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in retail, fashion, or consumer goods industries.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems; NetSuite experience is a plus.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA track preferred.
