A confidential national organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to support all aspects of revenue and cash general ledger accounting, including the month-end close process. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who can contribute to financial reporting accuracy, process improvement, automation, internal controls, and cross-functional issue resolution.
The organization is looking for a future leader with strong technical accounting capabilities, a focus on innovation, and the ability to help drive efficiencies throughout the close-to-report cycle. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting timely, accurate financial data delivery to key stakeholders while helping enhance internal controls over financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant will supervise and support centralized accounting activities related to revenue and cash transaction cycles across a large, multi-division operating environment.
Responsibilities include:
Oversee daily automated revenue and cash accounting processes, including review and posting of daily closing-related journal entries across approximately 40 operating divisions and a revenue base exceeding $30B
Analyze and troubleshoot variances within cash and revenue accounting processes, working cross-functionally with divisional accounting teams, internal business partners, and treasury functions to resolve issues accurately and timely.
Develop a strong understanding of the company’s business operations and accounting processes, with a focus on identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and drive automation.
Review and analyze reconciliations for corporate cash accounts using BlackLine
Supervise and support a general accountant responsible for coding and posting cash activity to operating divisions.
Serve as a liaison with divisional accounting teams to determine proper coding and posting to the general ledger.
Work directly with Accounting Manager and/or Director-level leadership to address accounting issues related to critical accounts.
Support month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and special accounting projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
Master’s degree preferred.
CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
1–3 years of experience in public accounting and/or experience with a public company preferred.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational, analytical, decision-making, management, and research skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Experience with JD Edwards, Essbase, and BlackLine preferred.
Physical / Office Requirements
This is primarily a sedentary office position. The role requires the ability to operate computer equipment, communicate effectively, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is required.
