Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Marketing Business Unit (MBU) provides strategic direction and commercial execution in areas involving supply, marketing, trading and market development.
The Marketing Business Unit (MBU), undertakes value-add commodity marketing activities, including buying and selling products (natural gas, ethane, propane, butane, condensate and crude oil), capitalizing on storage opportunities, and contracting capacity on pipelines, rail and marine. Marketing activities also include identifying commercial opportunities to further develop other Pembina assets.

Pembina’s Marketing Accounting team is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to be the dynamic problem solver for the NGL Marketing Accounting team while also managing full-cycle accounting processes including accruals and invoicing. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent organizational abilities, a commitment to maintaining financial integrity with tight timelines and the ability to work independently with limited oversight. The successful candidate will report to the Manager, Accounting (MBU).

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Produce, validate and support the monthly accruals, reconciliations and reporting process;
  • Oversee and execute on the end-to-end invoicing process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and client contracts;
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and design solutions as needed;
  • Execute the standardization of work product, and process documentation as required;
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g., Marketers, Risk, Middle Office) to resolve data discrepancies, systems issues and commercial settlement inquiries;
  • Serve as a financial data steward across multiple systems (SAP, RightAngle, Blackline etc.) ensuring consistency and seeking improvements where applicable;
  • Design and execute on accounting processes that are considered complex in nature, require judgement, or are manual in nature;
  • Liaise with various Pembina stakeholders to ensure the ongoing application of Pembina’s Accounting Policies;
  • Liaise with Internal and External Audit to support Pembina’s Internal Controls program and External Audits;
  • Engage with various Pembina groups to increase reporting automation and efficiencies;
  • Develop strong working relationships and maintain open communication across Pembina’s business and service units;
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • CPA with external audit experience with a public accounting firm preferred;
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience with recent experience in marketing accounting or financial reporting at a midstream organization;
  • Experience with IFRS 15 Revenue;
  • Experience in RightAngle is a significant asset;
  • Committed to learning and understanding accounting and commercial systems; SAP and BPC experience is considered an asset;
  • Ability to communicate technical accounting requirements to a wide audience;
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills;
  • Willingness to be curious and tenacious;
  • Self-motivated and able to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Effective communication, organization, and team-building skills complemented by a strong work ethic; and
  • Commitment to being dynamic and helping our team strategically solve challenges.

Pembina’s Flexible Work Standard provides the option for eligible employees to work remotely on Fridays.
