Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation Legal InternshipJoin Team Massachusetts at the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, a dynamic team committed to shaping economic opportunities for residents, fostering collaborative leadership, and nurturing an environment ripe for job creation and business growth.Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation (OCABR)The Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation protects and empowers consumers through advocacy and education and ensures a fair playing field for the Massachusetts businesses its agencies regulate.The OCABR legal internship is full-time (37.5 hours a week). A hybrid work schedule is available. Compensation for this internship is $21 per hour.The internship program will run from the present through mid-May 2027. Interviews will be held in-person and/or virtually. Legal interns are supervised by our General Counsel.OCABR Legal Internship Provides Experience in the Following:The primary assignment of this internship is assisting the general counsel in the daily activities of the office. Such work includes researching relevant legal topics in the field of consumer protection, reviewing and updating regulations, reviewing potential statutory changes, assisting with public record requests, reviewing home improvement contractor complaints, assisting hearing officers in drafting decisions, and other assignments.You Will Have the Opportunity To:· Gain hands-on experience at The Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation.· Experience on-the-job training through real work engagements, showcasing how your academic experience translates to the professional environment.· Learn directly from experienced associates, seniors, managers and partners with specialized experience and technical knowledge across numerous industries and services.· Build peer networks and strong work relationships while gaining valuable experience.· Demonstrate your performance and ability to join a government agency.Skills & Expertise:· Legal background· Excellent collaboration and team building skills.· Demonstrated written communication skills.· Strong verbal communication and listening skills.· Demonstrated analytical skills.· Demonstrated problem solving skills.· Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.· Excellent organizational skills.· Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism.· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.· Must have legal work authorization in the U.S.Please submit a cover letter with your application.
