Job Description

School of STEM PSD Department is hiring graders and peer facilitators for Spring 2026

UW Bothell offers student employment opportunities to help prepare students by providing practical work experience. Students are provided professional development and mentoring to develp skills to support post-graduation employmnet preparation and success.

Faculty in the Physical Sciences Department (PSD) will need graders/peer facilitators for their Spring 2026 courses. See the Application Instructions for how to apply. You may apply for more than one course. To see the instructors for the courses, please consult the Spring 2026 Time Schedule. Course descriptions can be found in the UW Bothell Course Catalog

All positions are subject to course enrollment. Please note the course list may change before the start of quarter. Positions remain open until filled.

Chemistry (B CHEM)—Graders/Peer Facilitators are projected to be needed for the following:

  • BCHEM 241
  • BCHEM 242

Physics (B PHYS)—Graders/Peer Facilitators are projected to be needed for the following:

  • BPHYS 115
  • BPHYS 330
  • Graders: Following the UW Classification Description for Reader/Grader, graders provide diverse services as course assistants, which normally include grading student papers and examinations. Grader duties may also include attendance at classes, office hours, consultation with instructors, and other duties as assigned. Graders may not perform teaching duties.

The faculty supervisor will provide specific details about the duties related to each course and the number of allocated grading or facilitating hours prior to the start of your appointment.

These positions are eligible for work study.

Hours per week: 1–10 (to be determined)

Hourly pay rate:

  • Graders/Peer Facilitators:
    • Undergraduate student rate - $22.65/hour
    • Graduate student rate - $24.15/hour

Estimated work period: Approximately March 30, 2026 - June 16, 2026

Qualifications

  • Successfully completed the course or have strong knowledge in the area in which you are applying to be a grader or facilitator.
  • Must be a currently registered UW student in Winter 2026 quarter, taking at least 6 credits if an undergraduate or 5 credits if a graduate student.

Please Note:

  • Student hourly employees are limited to working 19.5 hours per workweek during a quarter in which the student in enrolled, but may work more that 19.5 hours per workweek during school breaks or when "on leave."
  • All new student employees must also complete UW's online Title IX employee course about preventing and responding to sex- and gender-based violence and harassment.
  • After a student is selected for employment, they will receive information about completing employment prerequisites. See STEM Prospective Student Employee FAQs for more information.
  • For international students who may need a Social Security Number, please contact International Student Services for more information.

Under Additional Documents, you may also submit a résumé. This is optional but recommended. A cover letter and any other documents may also be submitted but are not required.
