Job Description

Downer is seeking an experienced and motivated Spray Seal Supervisor to lead the delivery of spray seal projects across Western Australia. Based out of Maddington, this hands‑on leadership position, you will be responsible for planning, organising and coordinating personnel, plant, suppliers and resources to ensure all works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual and statutory requirements.

This role is ideal for a strong operational leader who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys problem-solving on the ground, and is committed to achieving high‑quality outcomes for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise and supervise people, plant, machinery and subcontractors to deliver efficient and high‑quality spray seal projects.
  • Provide technical advice, ensure correct work procedures, plan jobs thoroughly and complete all job documentation to a high standard.
  • Maximise crew productivity, minimise waste, and manage client site requirements professionally and proactively.
  • Supervise, coach and develop team members, identify training needs and ensure performance standards and compliance expectations are met.
  • Support organisational improvement by driving accountability, fostering collaboration and contributing to a positive, high‑performance culture.
  • Lead Zero Harm by driving safe work practices, conducting SWMS reviews, managing near-miss reporting and ensuring compliance with all safety standards.

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous Spray Seal or similar experience is essential.
  • Effective supervision of personnel, plant, machinery and subcontractors on site.
  • Demonstrated success in managing performance of your line reports to meet and exceed agreed targets.
  • Successful track record with planning, organising and time management.
  • Proven ability to drive accountability throughout the workforce, including the implementation of robust processes.
  • Ability to demonstrate self-motivation and initiative.
  • Stakeholder engagement – able to build relationships, both internal and external.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and computer skills.
  • Good understanding of the relevant Work Health and Safety regulations and legislative requirements as applied to the road Industry.
  • Actively participate and support Zero Harm initiatives and strategies.
