Job Description

The Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Sports Performance – Olympic Sports position will manage and administer all aspects of the Sports Performance Program within University, ACC and NCAA rules and regulations. Responsibilities to include but not limited to practice/competition activities, player/skill development, recruiting, directing and implementing plans for daily practices and competitions, organizing and administering clinics, etc., mentoring student-athletes, fund-raising efforts and overall administrative tasks within the operation of the program. Must demonstrate integrity, leadership, a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically qualified students. Promote academic progress of student-athletes on and the off-field. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire through athletics.


Strong interpersonal communications skills; computer skills; demonstrated integrity, leadership, and a thorough knowledge of the sport are required. Knowledge of and familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations essential. Must possess a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, and counsel. CPRFirst Aid certified – CSCS (from NSCA) and/or CSCCa.


Strongly prefer a Master’s degree with 5-7 years of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities.

Experience managing sports performance staff and facilities. Previous strength and condition coaching experience with collegiate student-athletes preferably in an NCAA Division I program. Successful intercollegiate coaching experience, preferably at the Division I level, and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred. Knowledge for establishing policies and procedures for day to day operations is preferred.


This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
