Charlotte FC/Advocate Health are hiring two Sports Performance Dietitians to provide elite nutrition support across their player pathway.
One will be dedicated to the Academy Teams of up to 130 athletes and one supporting Crown Legacy FC of up to 30 athletes.
Working alongside the First Team Dietitian, these professionals will build trusted relationships with the athletes and performance staff while providing evidence-based nutrition strategies that optimize performance, recovery, player development, health and wellness in an elite soccer environment.
Major Responsibilities
○ Those related to Sports/Exercise such as bone mineral density, gastrointestinal issues, iron depletion, and iron – deficiency anemia, vitamin D/calcium status, return from injury, relative energy deficiency in sport, disordered eating, among others.
○ Those related to general health/wellness and how they may impact an athlete, including but not limited to food allergies/intolerances, GI conditions, diabetes, cardiovascular, among all others.
○ Hydration including: pre/post training weights, USG, sweat testing & analysis.
○ Body Composition Testing – DXA, Ultrasound, ISAK/Skinfold, or similar – interpreting the data and counseling athletes on achieving and maintaining values consistent with maximizing health and performance. Metabolic Testing
Bachelor's degree and >5 years' experience OR master's degree with >3 years' experience in Dietetics, Food, Nutrition or related field.
Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) in the state of applicable state within 3 months of hire; required temporary license within 30 days to practice per state law.
Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) preferred OR within 1 year of hire. CSSD to be maintained thereafter.
ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification preferred OR within 1 year of hire. To be maintained thereafter.
Minimum 2 years of experience in collegiate or professional athletics.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Ability to work a non-standard work week which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, non-traditional work hours, and overnight travel as needed
Engage in continuing professional education, especially relevant to sports nutrition, and be willing to participate in research if the opportunity arises and publish findings where possible.
Maintain knowledge and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and policies for dietary supplements such as WADA/USADA, Drug Free Sport and relevant governing bodies.
Requires sitting, standing, reaching, stretching, and lifting 25 – 50 pounds.
