Job Description
A sports dietitian optimizes student-athlete performance and recovery by delivering individualized nutritional counseling and evidence-based fueling strategies tailored to collegiate training demands. Additionally, they collaborate with coaching and sports medicine staff to promote long-term health, injury prevention, and sustainable dietary habits across all Butler Athletics programs.
Responsibilities
- Nutrition Coaching
- Educating student-athletes on an individual and team level
- Creative content creation for presentations, individual consults, informative handouts, signage, etc.
- Aid in body composition testing, protocols, and solutions for players
- Medical Nutrition Therapy
- Injury protocols (pre-/post-surgery, soft tissue, concussion, etc.)
- Vitamin guidance, evaluation, and recommendations
- Eating disorder management
- Food Service
- Assisting with menu planning/design for home and away games
- Assist in Nutrition Station design and implementation
- Evaluate advancements needed to improve food service
- Nutrition Station Management
- Inventory and ordering of product
- Recruiting and scheduling of student workers
- Budget management
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Professional Credential (e.g. RD, RDN)
- Current licensure as a Dietitian in Indiana or the ability/eligibility to obtain it immediately upon hire
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in nutritional counseling, with a strong preference for direct experience working with collegiate (NCAA), professional, or elite-level athletes
- Thorough understanding of the BIG EAST and NCAA rules and regulations
- Certifications (CPR/AED, First Aid)
- Outstanding verbal communication and leadership skills.
