Job Description

Summary:

The Sport & Recreation Support Worker plays a vital role in enhancing the leisure and sporting experiences of the community in Kowanyama, Queensland. This casual position is ideal for individuals looking to gain entry-level experience in the leisure and sport industry, contributing to the organisation's mission of promoting health, well-being, and active lifestyles among residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of recreational activities and sports programs for various age groups.
  • Support participants in engaging with activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • Help maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
  • Provide guidance and encouragement to participants, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with other team members to organise events and community outreach initiatives.
  • Monitor participant behaviour and report any concerns to senior staff.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to program registration and participant feedback.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for sports and recreation, with a willingness to learn.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety practices in a recreational setting.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is preferred but can be obtained after hiring.
