Job Description

The Spiritual Care Provider, a member of the interdisciplinary team, is responsible of offering spiritual and religious accompaniment adapted to the needs of our residents. He/she is also responsible for the planning, presentation and evaluation of spiritual and religious programming in accordance to the values of our founders, the Grey Nuns, as well as Manitoba Health Standards.

Service and Assignment: Spiritual Care
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Shift and Hours of Work: 0.7 FTE-part-time-indefinite term, currently 09:00-17:15 Monday, Tuesday and Thursday/ 09:00-12:45 Wednesday
Pay Scale: As per established salary scale
Specifications: Indefinite Term ending upon 2 weeks' notice. Assignment and hours of work are subject to change at any time as per operational requirements.

Selection Criteria:

  • University Degree in a related discipline;
  • Clinical Pastoral Education (C.P.E.) or equivalent;
  • Graduate of a program in theological or pastoral studies or equivalent is preferred or a combination of relevant education and / or work experience;
  • Related previous experience in leadership and mission effectiveness;
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in the spiritual sector;
  • Ability communicate in both official languages (English and French) is required ;
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills;
  • Ability to foster a positive interdisciplinary approach which supports quality resident care and continuous quality improvement in a team environment;
  • Familiarity with community resources, as necessary;
  • Ability to function in a computerized environment;
  • A basic understanding to theological, spiritual, ethical and social issues;
  • Have a practical understanding or the operations and dynamics of a healthcare facility;
  • An understanding of conflict management skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in small or large group setting;
  • Problem solving skills;
  • Ability to influence, inspire, guide the development of spirituality in the workplace;
  • Ability to identify values and principles that guide ethical decision-making in clinical cases;
  • Confidence in leading, encouraging, coaching others in their spiritual development and in living in accord with spiritual values;
  • Ability to articulate and communicate to the Vision, Mission and Values of the organization to various audience including staff, residents and families;
  • Commitment to excellence with demonstrated planning, decision-making and analytical skills;
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work with broad range of both internal and external partners;
  • Ability to demonstrate satisfactory employment record, including attendance; and
  • Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check deemed satisfactory by the Employer.
This position is designated bilingual (French/English). All staff are hired for the facility. Employees may hold more than one position in different Actionmarguerite facilities, where the sum total of hours does not exceed 1.0 full-time equivalence.
