The Spiritual Care Associate are responsible to provide emotional support to patients and families with particular attention to the patients’ and families’ spiritual, cultural and existential concerns. In addition, the Spiritual Care Associate may support the patient in medical decision making; provide or arrange for appropriate rites of passage or ceremonies; act as a liaison between medical staff and family; and as required in a given institution, provide for and coordinate regular and extraordinary religious services to meet the needs of patients. In addition, the Spiritual Care Associate may provide spiritual support to staff who request it.
