Job Description

Role Accountabilities

  • Assist in identifying opportunities to enhance the efficiency and output of current power generation and distribution systems.
  • Support the technical assessment of new initiatives and projects.
  • Help ensure that all new power generation facilities are equipped to transfer electricity to the grid and direct customers.
  • Collaborate on the management of engineering, procurement, and commissioning tasks for various projects.
  • Monitor the progress of projects, identify any discrepancies from the set milestones, and assist in implementing corrective measures in coordination with the Managing Director.
  • Help maintain and update the project database for all initiatives undertaken by the company.
  • Regularly visit sites for both new proposals and existing projects to monitor progress and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Communicate with contractors to investigate any delays or issues with the quality of work or materials, ensuring all aspects meet the project's specifications and standards.
  • Assist in providing technical support during the initial concept and planning stages of projects.
  • Help develop risk management plans by identifying potential risks associated with projects and recommending strategies to minimize or mitigate these risks.

    Skills and Requirements
  • This role requires a first degree or its equivalent diploma qualification in Engineering and an additional professional qualification. Must be a Registered engineer with COREN, PMP or Prince2.
  • Requires 4 - 5 years relevant work experience with advanced/ extensive knowledge and mastery of relevant theories, principles and complex techniques in
  • Power systems gained through broad experience or special development.

  • Lead and manage engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Develop project plans, allocate resources, and monitor progress to meet project objectives.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and provide progress updates to senior management.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing effective risk management strategies.
  • Maintain open communication channels with clients and external partners.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and technologies, incorporating best practices into project execution.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (B.Sc. or equivalent).
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in engineering project management.
  • Proven track record in power generation, transmission, and distribution industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with project management tools, such as Office Project or similar.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry advancements.
