About the Job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speedboat Captain to join the Front Office team at Jumeirah Olhahali Island.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Follow the Guest Transport SOP manual and Jumeirah Brand/Quality Assurance standards, ensuring services consistently meet and exceed guest and management expectations.
  • Steer and operate the speedboat using navigational equipment (GPS chart plotter, radar systems), adjusting routes and speed according to weather and sea conditions to keep guests, cargo, and vessel safe.
  • Check lube oil, fuel, coolant and diesel levels prior to engine/generator start-up, and record and report any faults or malfunctions to the Supervisor.
  • Complete daily checklists, recording voyage details, fuel balance, and operational hours of engines and generators as per resort policy.
  • Inspect speedboats for seaworthiness and passenger safety compliance in line with Maldivian Maritime Laws and regulations, reporting any faults to the Supervisor.
  • Ensure speedboats remain fully functional (technical, navigational, mechanical), liaising with the Supervisor on maintenance needs and assisting the Marine Mechanic with repair work.
  • Monitor and instruct Speedboat Crews on mooring, fastening, refuelling, safe luggage storage, and safety measures, while supervising Boat Hosts to ensure guest amenities meet set service standards.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Airport and Resort Teams to ensure well-organised, seamless guest arrivals and departures.
  • Supervise guest embarkation/disembarkation with safety precautions, giving extra attention to guests with disabilities, elderly guests, and children.
  • Report for duty 30 minutes prior to scheduled time, ensuring the speedboat's exterior and interior are fully clean, stocked, and guest-ready before every movement.
  • Take personal responsibility and initiative in resolving issues, maintaining high grooming standards, and adhering fully to hygiene, fire, health and safety policies.
  • Attend training sessions, daily briefings, and communication meetings, and carry out any additional tasks requested by guests or management.

About You

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Fresh graduate with a high school diploma, preferably with completion of a maritime, hospitality, or tourism-related course/program.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues.
  • A positive, proactive attitude with a focus on learning and gaining hands-on experience in marine operations relative to hospitality.
