Educational Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Are you a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist passionate about giving every child the power to communicate, connect, and thrive in the classroom? We are seeking an Educational Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our special education team. In this role, you will conduct speech, language, and hearing evaluations, deliver evidence-based interventions, and collaborate with educators and families to help students overcome communication barriers and reach their full academic potential.

What You'll Do

1. Comprehensive Assessment & IEP Leadership

• Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings, as well as formal and informal evaluations (ongoing and curriculum-based), to identify student needs and determine eligibility for services.
• Obtain and analyze diagnostic history, evaluation data, and observation notes to formulate clear recommendations regarding speech-language services.
• Develop, manage, and implement student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) featuring measurable goals aligned with district standards and state/federal regulations.

2. Evidence-Based Intervention & Service Delivery

• Plan and deliver direct and indirect, evidence-based therapy for individual students and small groups addressing language, speech sound, voice, fluency, and pragmatic communication disorders.
• Continually monitor student progress, adjusting intervention strategies, materials, and pacing to optimize learning outcomes.
• Integrate Assistive Technology (AT) and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices to ensure students have functional communication access across school environments.

3. Multidisciplinary Collaboration & Consultation

• Consult and co-treat with general education teachers and special education staff to embed communication strategies and accommodations into everyday classroom routines.
• Partner with parents and guardians, providing regular progress updates, home strategies, and consultation to support communication development beyond the classroom.
• Collaborate with external audiologists, medical providers, and community agencies to coordinate comprehensive care and make specialized referrals as needed.

4. Program Management & Due Process Compliance

• Organize and manage an efficient school speech-language program, scheduling, and facility setup aligned with building and district goals.
• Maintain complete and precise procedural documentation, speech-language records, progress reports, and equipment inventories in accordance with ethical and legal standards.
• Adhere strictly to due process mandates, FERPA data privacy guidelines, and professional codes of ethics.

What You Bring

• Education: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited institution.
• Licensure & Certification:
  • Active Minnesota Teaching License as an Educational Speech-Language Pathologist (or eligibility for immediate licensure).
  • Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC-SLP) OR commitment to complete the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) during the first year of employment.
• Expertise & Knowledge:
  • In-depth understanding of pediatric speech and language development, communication disorders, and evidence-based therapeutic practices.
  • Familiarity with formal/informal assessment tools, assistive technology/AAC systems, and special education due process.
• Professional Skills:
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to build trust with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for writing comprehensive clinical reports and presenting at IEP meetings.
  • Excellent organizational ability, caseload management, and problem-solving skills.
