Speech Therapist - Full Time

Shift: 8:00am - 4:30pm

*Position may be eligible for employee referral bonus. $10k sign on bonus with 2+ years of experience.

PATIENT POPULATION:

The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the VP of Professional Services, the Speech/Language Pathologist delivers Speech Therapy to the patient in both hospital and out-patient settings.

Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology, or its equivalent, from a college program satisfying the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's (ASHA's) academic requirements and practicum.

Must follow AIDET and accepts reassignments and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner. Must maintain the department in compliance with rules and regulations set forth by governing agencies.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:

Current ASHA certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech/Language pathology preferred. Current license for practicing Speech/Language Pathology in the state of California required. Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

*Indicates Essential Function

1 * Performs initial and ongoing evaluation of patients according to diagnosis, past history and physician referral. Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

2 * Demonstrates ability to provide comprehensive diagnostic screens/evaluation or communication, cognitive and/or swallowing status of patients to determine the need for intervention and to develop individualized treatment plans.

3 * Provides and continuously modifies and adapts Speech Therapy programs and services according to patient's progress.

4 * Responsible for maintaining accurate and timely patient care records to satisfy legal, hospital physician, and professional requirements, including weekly progress notes for Inpatients and progress notes on Outpatients.

5 * Implements appropriate intervention services so that the patient can achieve his/her optimal level of function.

6 * Collaborates and integrates with other members, the patient's interdisciplinary team to carry out mutual patient care objectives as part of the interdisciplinary plan of care.

7 * Responsible for assisting in the education and training of patients and their families, to produce optimal patient response.

8 Assumes responsibility for continuing their professional and educational development.

9 Demonstrates appropriate, effective communicative interactions with patients, families, and professionals.

10 Performs within the philosophy and organizational structure of the hospital as well as the regulations of the governing profession.

11 Performs other duties as requested.

12 * Documentation reflects compliance with established hospital policies and procedures.
