
Job Title: Speech Pathologist
Department: Speech Therapy
Location: Rochester General Hospital
Hours Per Week: Per Diem
Schedule: Rotating Days, Weekend and Weekdays, Rotating One Weekend Shift Per Month
As a Speech Pathologist, your empathy, compassion, and exceptional evaluation abilities lead to rehabilitative treatment programs that restore or improve patients’ optimal level of function, independence, and quality of life.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluation & Planning. Perform a complete initial evaluation of the referred patient; develop and implement treatment plans, including appropriate short- and long-term goals; involve the patient, family, and staff in the implementation of the treatment program; re-evaluate patient functional status progressively; advance patient toward maximal performance and functional independence
Documentation. Maintain a complete documentation of patient evaluations, treatment, progress, and discharge status; send required information to appropriate professionals
Collaboration. Actively participate in rehabilitation team efforts to meet patient needs, including counseling and teaching patient and family, discussing changes in treatment programs with MDs, coordinating healthcare plans with other involved professionals and assisting in discharge planning as appropriate
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders (may be MA, MS, Med)
New York State licensure or for recent graduates: Completion of at least 9 months supervised Clinical Fellowship year OR eligible to participate in supervised Clinical Fellowship year by a NYS licensed Speech Language Pathologist with a NYS Limited permit, followed by the NYS licensure examination and achievement of NYS license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1 year of experience in a medical setting preferred
For Long Term Care/Elderone: 1 year of experience with the frail elderly population preferred

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
