Job Description

We are hiring in Bronx, NY! Join us at Easterseals Story Ave for an exciting career as a Speech Language Pathologist! (10 month position)

What You'll Do

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will work as a team member with teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists and counselors to help children develop communication skills in receptive and expressive language and overcome difficulties. This may include determining the need for alternative communication strategies and use of augmentative devices. You will interact with children with various types of special needs and their families. You may serve on an evaluation team, develop and report on IEP goals and objectives, develop other goals and objectives for children and interact with school district personnel around specific children.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Maintain professional standards in and out of the Center in compliance with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Code of Ethics.
  • Attend IEP meetings, staffing, case conferences and department meetings.
  • Maintain appropriate records: session notes, progress notes and reports, evaluations, plans, case conference reports and discharge summaries.
  • Complete departmental program evaluation in accordance with agency policy and procedures.
  • Supervise clinical fellowship year for staff speech language pathologist where appropriate.

You're a great fit for this role if you have:

  • Master's Degree or its equivalent in the field of Speech and Language Pathology. Hold Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech/Hearing Association OR be in clinical fellowship year (See Addendum-Speech language pathologist, Clinical Fellowship Year)
  • Current State Speech Language Pathologist License.
  • State certification as a teacher of speech/language disorders when necessary
  • Three years' experience working with young children as a speech/language pathologist is preferred.

Compensation:

  • $65,000- 90,000 (depending on credentials and experience)
