Position Purpose:
Assumes full responsibility for providing quality speech language pathology services in compliance with ASHA and SLP scope ofpractice Independently provides comprehensive services to improve patient participation, independence, and functioning through the evaluation of medical necessity for skilled speech therapy services, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, multidisciplinary teamInvolvement, counseling, referrals, and education.
What theSpeech Language PathologistWill Do:
Independently evaluates and diagnoses functional abilities/disabilities under provider order within the areas ofspeech, language, voice, cognition, feeding and swallowing, fluency, resonance, and auditoryhabilitation/rehabilitation through standardized and informal testing procedures.
Establishes patient-centered treatment goals in collaboration with the patient, family, and care team. Establishes written treatment plan and administers treatment for each patient according to stated goals.
Documentsevaluation and treatment of all patients in compliance with department standards, ASHA code of ethics, and medical-legal regulations.
Provides education and instruction to the patient and familyregardingevaluation results, plan of care, recommended interventions, homeexercise programs. Including providing written instructions, as necessary.
Provides culturally responsive care by creating a culturally safe environment,utilizingappropriate assessmentand treatment materials, and obtaining language interpretation as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of aMaster’sprogram accredited by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
Required:Master’sinapplicable field
State of Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist License or Speech-Language Pathologist Educational LimitedTemporary License during their clinical fellowship year (CF), or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire date.
Hold andmaintainthe Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology through ASHA orbe provisionally accepted during their clinical fellowship year (CF).
American Heart Association BLS or equivalent
