EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in Speech Pathology.
• Maryland State license in Speech and Language Pathology.
• Knowledge of normal versus deviant speech and language.
• Ability to evaluate students in articulation, language, voice, fluency, and augmentative communication.
• Ability to develop goals and objectives based on student needs in articulation, language, voice, fluency, and augmentative communication.
• Ability to provide direct speech language therapy services to students in articulation, language, voice, fluency, and augmentative communication.
• Ability to screen and determine the need for further assessment.
• Ability to provide consultative services to staff and parents.
• Ability to plan a speech-language therapy schedule that meets the needs of students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Provides “coaching” strategies to parents, families, caregivers, teachers, and/or daycare providers to improve existing knowledge and practices and develop new skills.
• Documents individual visit in the student's file and provides a copy to the parent.
• Conducts initial evaluations.
• Reevaluates students for annual reviews and eligibility meetings.
• Reevaluates students on educators’ caseloads for annual reviews and eligibility meetings.
• Provides consult services to educators as needed for individual students on their caseloads.
• Conducts 6-month reviews with students on caseloads, as well as the students evaluated for educators.
• Conducts annual reviews.
• Updates IFSPs for students and meets timelines for 6-month review and annual reviews.
• Updates IFSP when services end, and students transition to IEP.
• Attends eligibility meetings.
• Writes IEPs and attends IEP meetings.
• Completes Medical Assistance billing.
• Supports and/or runs parent-child groups or toddler groups.
• Collaborates effectively with community partners.
• Collaborates effectively with school-based SLPs in the transition process.
• Actively participates in ongoing professional development.
• Engages in solution-oriented problem solving.
• Recognizes situations in which guidance and support are needed and requests help.
• Regularly attends I&T and SLP Meetings.
• Provides AAC and feeding/swallowing support.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations, and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
