Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to direct, supervise, evaluate and provide speech therapy services to patients in the home as prescribed by the attending physician.

Requirements:

We are looking for someone with at least 1 full year of supervised experience providing speech therapy services to patients in a clinical setting (No new grads), with some home health experience (preferred). The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • At least a master's degree in speech language pathology from an ASHA accredited program; Must be a current member of ASHA & certified by the association (attainment of CCC certification).
  • Active Speech Language Pathology license for State of Florida through board of SLPA; License is without previous disciplinary actions or discrepancies.
  • Current BLS Provider (BLS) CPR certification completed through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (no online programs).

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluates patient’s speech and language abilities, both defects and assets, and performs periodic reevaluations.
  • Plans and provides rehabilitative services for speech and language disorders.
  • Records type of treatment and patient’s reaction to it on clinical/progress notes, which are maintained in the electronic medical record system.
  • Maintains adequate records on all patients, including summary reports.
  • Utilizes community resources and Agency personnel by proper referral.
  • Selects and administers diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and materials.
  • Instructs and counsels other health team personnel and family members in methods of assisting patient in improving, correcting, and accepting his disabilities.
  • Attends case conferences via phone or other methods as required.
  • Participates in the development and periodic revision of the physician’s plan of treatment.
  • Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team regarding provision of care.
  • Complies with federal, state, local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation; Adheres to accreditation standards as set forth by the Accreditation Commission for Healthcare (ACHC).

Accountable/Reports to: Administrator, Ability Care Services, Inc.

Work Hours/Conditions:

The position will be as needed (per diem) with a rate as industry appropriate. Work will be performed in the patient home setting, with the therapist travelling to the patient’s home location for sessions.
