About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Glendale, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Glendale, CA
• Schedule: 10 hours per month, 2x a week for 1.25 hours
• Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• Teaching credential required
• Experience working with upper-elementary or middle-school students with significant academic gaps
• Experience supporting students with ADHD, short-term memory challenges, and/or learning differences
• Strong background in foundational math, including number sense, basic operations, math fluency, and conceptual understanding
• Strong reading instruction skills, including reading fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and leveled reading
• Experience supporting writing, including grammar, language conventions, sentence construction, organization, and written expression
• Skilled at providing explicit, systematic, and repetitive instruction
• Familiar with multisensory teaching strategies and visual supports such as number lines, charts, and manipulatives
• Strong understanding of executive functioning skills, including organization, task initiation, working memory, routines, and independent learning
• Patient, encouraging, and able to provide consistent reinforcement without creating unnecessary pressure
• Comfortable adjusting the pace of instruction based on the student's learning needs
• Able to break down complex concepts into manageable steps and provide repeated opportunities for practice
• Strong ability to build confidence and motivate students who may become anxious or frustrated with challenging academic tasks

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized academic instruction based on the student's current instructional levels and learning needs
• Teach foundational math concepts including number sense, basic operations, computation, and math fluency
• Use visual supports, manipulatives, number lines, hundreds charts, and other hands-on tools to strengthen mathematical understanding
• Prioritize conceptual understanding over memorization and provide repeated opportunities for meaningful practice
• Support reading fluency through appropriately leveled texts and structured reading practice
• Develop reading comprehension and vocabulary through explicit instruction, guided reading, questioning, and discussion
• Provide writing instruction focused on sentence construction, grammar, language conventions, organization, and written expression
• Teach strategies for organizing ideas and completing written assignments independently
• Support executive functioning skills including task initiation, organization, working memory, following routines, and task completion
• Use repetition, visual cues, structured routines, and multisensory strategies to reinforce retention
• Provide frequent comprehension checks and opportunities to review previously learned material
• Avoid unnecessary time pressure and create a learning environment focused on mastery, confidence, and steady progress
• Incorporate the student's interests, including baseball, trains, transportation, recycling and garbage trucks, Nintendo Switch games, and music, to increase engagement
• Monitor progress and adjust instruction to reinforce skills and address ongoing academic needs
• Maintain a consistent, patient, and encouraging learning environment that promotes confidence and independence
