Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 5pm
Procedure nurses must have ability to demonstrate knowledge of basic sterile technique by ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are available for in-office procedures. Must be able to demonstrate attention to detail to ensure physician preferences are met when scrubbed in or circulating in cases. Procedure nurses should be able to exhibit skills to maintain patient safety. Must be able to communicate clearly with all members of the healthcare team. Must be willing to learn all principles of infection control to maintain care of equipment and supplies post procedure.
Responsibilities:
1. Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the customer/patient, to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the Population Specific Criteria.
2. Performs an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the patient's needs.
3. Develops/reviews/revises and individualizes the plan of care to address the patient's nursing care needs for optimum patient care outcomes. (Consultation and resources, nurses as teachers.)
4. Implements interventions that are consistent with the established plan of care in a safe and appropriate manner (Professional Models of Care).
5. Performs technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety (autonomy).
6. Maintains a professional behavior in attitude, demeanor, interactions to achieve organization's mission. (Quality Improvement, Image of Nursing, Interdisciplinary Relationships, Professional Development, community and the healthcare organization.)
7. Initiates action to correct, prevent, and/or minimize risk(s) to the patient, family or staff/employees. (Quality of Care)
8. Assists physician with various procedures to facilitate patient care by preparing and monitoring patient, readying, supplies, medications, equipment and assisting according to physician instructions 99% of time.
9. Fiscally accountable.
