Are you an organized, energetic leader who loves working with kids and supporting staff? The Salem YMCA is seeking a Seasonal Camp Director to lead our Specialty Camps based at our main YMCA building.
This role oversees a vibrant, creative camp program serving approximately 120 campers ages 5–13, offering specialty-focused experiences in a safe, engaging, and well-organized environment.
The Seasonal Camp Director is responsible for the daily leadership, administration, and overall quality of the Specialty Camp program. This position is ideal for someone with strong organizational skills, experience supervising staff, and a passion for youth development.
Program Leadership & Quality
Oversee daily camp operations to ensure a high-quality, safe, and engaging program
Ensure programming aligns with YMCA values and specialty camp goals
Support positive camper experiences and age-appropriate activities
Staff Supervision & Support
Supervise, support, and coach camp counselors and specialty staff
Assist with staff scheduling, coverage, and daily oversight
Model professionalism, leadership, and positive behavior management
Administrative & Operational Support
Manage attendance, rosters, communication, and basic reporting
Maintain organization of program materials and shared spaces
Communicate with families, staff, and YMCA leadership as needed
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all YMCA policies, procedures, and safety standards are followed
Respond appropriately to incidents and support a safe camp environment

Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license
Experience working in a camp, youth program, or educational setting; prior staff supervision or leadership experience preferred
Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated commitment to program quality, youth development, and teamwork
Must obtain and maintain required certifications within three months of hire, including CPR/First Aid, Safety, Child Abuse Prevention, and YMCA Day Camp Director Training
