In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and support of advanced industrial automation and control systems used in mining and industrial environments. You will work within an R&D-driven engineering team focused on building and improving PLC-based control solutions, electrical systems, and monitoring technologies. The position combines hands-on technical work in workshops with remote engineering and project support activities. You will play a key role in assembling, testing, and commissioning automation panels and ensuring system reliability across customer deployments. You will also collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, and project teams to support system design and lifecycle improvements. This is a highly technical and dynamic role involving both development and field exposure in a fast-evolving industrial automation environment.

Accountabilities

You will be responsible for contributing to the full lifecycle of industrial automation systems, from design and development through testing, commissioning, and customer support. Your work will ensure the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of control and monitoring systems used in complex industrial applications.

  • Design and support electrical schematics for control systems, including panels and monitoring solutions
  • Select and validate automation components such as PLCs, variable speed drives, and safety systems
  • Assemble, test, and troubleshoot automation panels and control systems in workshop environments
  • Participate in PLC programming, system configuration, and deployment activities
  • Support on-site commissioning, installation, and technical troubleshooting for customer projects
  • Prepare technical documentation, parts lists, and material requisitions while monitoring inventory needs
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams across all phases of automation system development
  • Contribute to cost estimation, design validation, and continuous improvement of automation solutions
  • Requirements

    You bring a strong technical background in electrical engineering or industrial automation, combined with hands-on experience in PLC systems and industrial control environments. You are comfortable working in both workshop and field settings and collaborating in bilingual, fast-paced technical teams.

    • DEC or AEC in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or related field
    • Experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems
    • Strong understanding of electrical codes and automation hardware components
    • Ability to design, read, and modify electrical schematics and CAD drawings
    • Hands-on experience assembling, testing, and troubleshooting control panels
    • Bilingual proficiency in English and French (spoken and written) required
    • Strong ability to multitask and adapt to changing project priorities
    • Experience in industrial or mining environments is an asset
    • Knowledge of Spanish is considered a plus
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/technical tools
