The primary goal of the Centre of Excellence, Trauma and Emergencies (CETE) is to improve health outcomes of individuals and populations affected by trauma and emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, complex humanitarian crises, disasters due to climate change and large-scale epidemics. The CETE collaborates with AKDN partners , global academic and response institutions, governments, private sector and funding agencies to strengthen day-to-day trauma and emergency systems as well as disaster preparedness and response in low and lower middle-income countries, especially those where AKU and AKDN is active.

This is a contractual position.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

  • conduct life-saving (Basic and Advanced) and emergency response training courses using approved curricula and instructional methodologies
  • conduct classroom-based teaching sessions as well as hands-on practical and simulation-based training
  • assess participants through written examinations, practical evaluations and simulations, and provide feedback and remediation as required
  • support the development, review and updating of training curricula, manuals, presentations and assessment tools
  • coordinate and supervise instructors and facilitators to ensure consistency and quality of training delivery
  • coordinate with logistics and operational teams regarding training schedules, venues, equipment and materials
  • ensure all training is conducted in compliance with organizational, national and international standards and accreditation requirements
  • maintain accurate training documentation including attendance records, assessments, reports and certification processes
  • provide guidance and support to participants during training sessions and assessments
  • stay updated on emergency care guidelines, instructional methodologies and life support standards through continuous professional development.

Requirements

You should have:

  • a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Nursing, Emergency Medicine, Paramedics, Allied Health Sciences, Public Health or a related healthcare field
  • valid certification as an instructor/trainer in life support or emergency response courses
  • preferably additional instructor certifications from recognized national or international bodies
  • at least three years of relevant experience in healthcare, emergency response or life support training
  • demonstrated experience as a lead instructor or trainer for similar training programs
  • experience in simulation-based training, practical assessments and competency-based learning
  • preferably experience in curriculum development or instructional design
  • strong knowledge of emergency care principles, resuscitation guidelines and life-saving procedures
  • understanding of adult learning methodologies and training approaches
  • excellent presentation, facilitation and communication skills
  • strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in teams
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital learning platforms
  • ability to manage time, prioritize tasks and handle multiple training sessions effectively
  • willingness to travel and flexibility to work on weekends or extended hours as per training requirements.
