Job Description

Metro Global Solution Center (MGSC) is internal solution partner for METRO, a €31 Billion international wholesaler with operations in more than 30 countries. The store network comprises a total of 623 stores in 21 countries, of which 522 offer out-of-store delivery (OOS), and 94 dedicated depots. In 12 countries, METRO runs only the delivery business by its delivery companies (Food Service Distribution, FSD).

HoReCa and Traders are core customer groups of METRO. The HoReCa section includes hotels, restaurants, catering companies as well as bars, cafés and canteen operators. The Traders section includes small grocery stores and kiosks. The majority of all customer groups are small and medium-sized enterprises as well as sole traders. METRO helps them manage their business challenges more effectively.

MGSC, location wise is present in Pune (India), Düsseldorf (Germany) and Szczecin (Poland). We provide HR, Finance, IT & Business operations support to 31 countries, speak 24+ languages and process over 18,000 transactions a day. The Specialist Trainer – Learning & Development is an individual contributor role focused on designing, delivering, and managing end-to-end learning interventions that enable business performance and employee capability building. The role works closely with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify learning needs, deliver high-impact training programs, and ensure effective training operations and measurement.

This role is hands-on, execution-oriented, and ideal for someone passionate about facilitation, learner engagement, and operational excellence in L&D.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Training Management

  • Execute the complete training lifecycle including:
    • Training Need Identification (TNI) in partnership with business stakeholders.
    • Preparation and management of the annual and quarterly training calendar.
    • Coordination with subject matter experts and external partners for content inputs.
    • Seamless operational execution of classroom, virtual, and blended programs.
    • Post-training evaluation, reporting, and effectiveness analysis.
  • Maintain accurate training records, MIS reports, and dashboards to track participation, feedback, and outcomes.

Training Design & Delivery

  • Design, customize, and deliver engaging training programs (process, functional, behavioral, and capability-based) aligned to identified needs.
  • Facilitate instructor-led and virtual training sessions with high learner engagement.
  • Adapt content and delivery styles to suit different audiences and learning objectives.
  • Continuously improve training materials using feedback, data, and best practices.

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Act as a trusted training partner to business teams by understanding their capability requirements and recommending appropriate learning solutions.
  • Serve as the Point of Contact (POC) for:
    • New Employee Orientation / Induction programs.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and global colleagues on learning initiatives and shared projects.

Digital & Blended Learning Enablement

  • Support and execute technology-enabled learning solutions including digital, blended, and virtual formats.
  • Use learning tools and platforms (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, LMS) to enhance learner experience and accessibility.
  • Explore and apply innovative learning formats and facilitation techniques.

Vendor & Program Support

  • Support sourcing, coordination, and evaluation of external trainers and learning partners where required.
  • Assist in vendor engagement, trainer onboarding, and program logistics.
  • Track and monitor training-related costs and utilization as part of overall training operations (no budget ownership).

Functional Onboarding

  • Co-ordinate and organize functional training sessions where applicable, with high learner engagement and adaptability to diverse audiences.
  • Track completion of mandatory and functional onboarding courses, maintain accurate onboarding records, and provide dashboards/reports to stakeholders.
  • Partner with business teams and subject matter experts to identify onboarding needs and integrate functional learning into the broader training calendar.
  • Gather feedback from participants and managers to refine onboarding content, delivery formats, and learner experience.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

Required / Preferred

  • Post-graduate qualification in HR, Psychology, Education, or a related field (preferred, not mandatory).
  • 7-9 years of experience in Training delivery and Learning & Development.
  • Hands-on experience delivering:
    • Process, functional, or behavioral training programs.
    • Virtual and classroom-based sessions.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to engage large audiences.
  • Working knowledge of training effectiveness frameworks and evaluation methods.
  • Good project management skills with a proactive and execution-focused mindset.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • MS Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
    • Collaboration platforms like SharePoint.
    • Rapid content creation
