Job Description

Optimization of vessel/voyage utilization on designated services and trades based on commercial guidelines in Coordination and cooperation with Regional Commercial and Operations, Area Commercial Steering, Customer Service/QSC, PTO and TSM.

  • Responsible for Allocation and Capacity Management on designated Ship Systems / Trades
  • Daily activity to increase profitability and vessels’ utilization as well as reducing operational costs to the minimum (storages, renomination)
  • Manage and optimize utilization for the vessel within Region South Europe across all allocation scopes (trades), all Geo Forms for full and MT containers
  • Liaising with ship planners (own or partner line) on space-related topics and operational restrictions (e.g. draft, ballast & bunker, stack weight, etc)
  • Liaising with QSCs for CSB-related topics (vessel balancing) as well as PTO topics (e.g. terminal build up, load lists)
  • Close cooperation with TM Pricing & Steering regarding booking development and respective market situation
  • Alignment with Area Commercial Steering on market developments
  • Predicting the voyage utilization
  • Responsible for special cargo approval applications (e.g. OOG, Flexi tank) to planners/partner lines
  • Predict booking developments and liaise with TMPS
  • Responsible for shipment acceptance handling including waitlist handling Prioritization of cargo in case of an overbooking situation based on commercial rules, operational and cost aspects
  • Cooperation on ad hoc schedule adjustments / optimizations in collaboration with Voyage Control/Fleet Support Center and Regions
  • Ensure timely communication/coordination of contingency measures taken (rollovers, C&R, omissions) to reduce customers frustration/improve experience.
  • Support taking decisions to safeguard schedule reliability, while balancing with other main goals, such as utilizations, costs mitigation – finally taking the best decision possible for the company.
  • Ensure optimal baselines are in place throughout the year, challenge/propose adjustments proactively according to the reality/situation of each service/vessel. Proactively support & take decisions to avoid costs, e.g. reduce rollovers and/or roll in cost-efficient locations, support taking cost-optimal contingency measures.
  • Challenge CA's adherence, overbooking levels and Others' share, ensure usage of prioritization rulebook.
  • Operational background and Trade Management or Commercial Steering experience welcome
  • Comprehensive knowledge about HL applications (FIS, Qlik.) (Advantageous)
  • Proficient in MS-Office products (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Analytical, systematic and efficient way of working
  • Motivated, proactive and reliable
  • Willing to take ownership of tasks and responsibility
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Excellent negotiations skills and assertiveness
  • Acceptance of flexible working times also on holidays/weekends
  • Experience in dealing with different stakeholder groups
