Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Develop high-fidelity 1D,2D or 3D thermal models for components & sub-systems using in house system simulation tools or external tools like Modelica ,GT-SUITE , Amesim or Simulink.
  • Simulate and analyze thermal, fluid, and control system behaviors under various operating conditions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, controls, and software engineers to integrate simulation models into product development workflows.
  • Calibrate the component and sub-system models using experimental test data to minimize the model prediction errors .
  • Validate simulation models against experimental or field data and refine models for accuracy and performance.
  • Design & Develop modularized architecture for system simulation tool catering wide range of HVAC & refrigeration system architectures
  • Document methodologies, assumptions, and results for internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in developing physics based HVAC component & system models in Modelica or GT-SUITE
  • Proficiency in HVAC and Refrigeration system architecture (design and simulation)
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics applied to HVAC.
  • Experience with system & component modeling, tuning parameter estimation, and model validation.
  • Programming – Working knowledge of C++/C# and scripting languages like Python ,MATLAB for model development
  • HVAC component system simulation tools – Coil designer , Vapcyc ,
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

    AI/ML skills

    Physics‑informed ML for HVAC modeling – Surrogate/Reduced order model development for HVAC systems & components , accelerating model development with sparse test data
  • Data driven model calibration – Autotunning heat transfer & pressure drop models using Bayesian optimization, Genetic algorithms, Gradient based learning etc
  • AI enabled digital twin development – Real time performance tracking and model calibration, predictive maintenance etc
  • External model integration – Integrate external FMU’s from vendors , Modelica , GT-Suite type platforms with in house tool
  • HVAC system solver development – Develop robust system solvers to handle stiff nonlinear discontinuous dynamics
  • Programming & frameworks – Python, Numpy, Scipy, Pandas, PyTorch, Tensor flow , Julia
  • Data handling for HVAC systems – Cleaning test data , Sensor/IOT data preprocessing , Feature engineering for thermal systems, HVAC data analytics
  • Familiarity with control systems and embedded software integration is a plus.
  • Exposure to cloud-based simulation platforms or IoT integration for digital twins.Usage of AI tools for model development is preferred

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Requires at least 5 years related experience.Understanding of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Experience with analytical and CAD software. Requires knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Familiarity with control systems and embedded software integration is a plus.
  • Exposure to cloud-based simulation platforms or IoT integration for digital twins.
  • Usage of AI tools for model development is preferred
